Hi Fellow Traveler,

I hope you’re having a great week.

If you’re new to the newsletter, welcome. If you’re a regular reader, thank you so much for reading my words each week :-).

I’m a bit tardy today; sorry about that. I wanted to ensure that the articles were ready before sending this out. I hope you have a great weekend.

All eyes are on Rome today as Pope Francis is buried. Also this year, Rome and the Vatican will host a special Jubilee, commemorating the “1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicea” and they will have a new Pope soon, so the city will be very busy this year. Based on 2023’s data, Rome is the third visited city in Europe by Americans. I’m working on an article to showcase the top 10 cities visited.

Here’s some information about the Eternal city, you can use on your visit. Click the image below.

Many years ago, I visited the Blarney Stone. Here’s a recap and also how you too can make this visit.

REAL-ID

Real ID will be here on May 7, 2025. This means that your government-issued ID must have certain traits in order for you to travel (fly) domestically in the U.S. You can see the new rules at https://www.dhs.gov/real-id. If you do not have a REAL ID then you can use your passport to travel. There are also other select documents you can use as well.

Passrider Travel Tip of the Week

Use Secondary Airports to Make Non-Rev Travel to Europe Easier

When flying to popular European cities like Rome and Cork, remember that secondary airports and nearby cities can be your best friends as a non-rev traveler.

  • For Rome, if flights into Fiumicino (FCO) are full, check flights into Ciampino (CIA), Rome’s secondary airport used by low-cost carriers Ryanair and WizzAir. It’s closer to the city and can be less congested.

  • For Cork (ORK), if loads are tight, look at flights into Shannon (SNN) or Dublin (DUB) and connect to Cork by train, bus, or a quick regional hop. Ireland’s transport links are excellent and easy to navigate.

Flexibility with airports—and a little ground travel—can be the difference between getting stuck and making it to your destination stress-free!

Here’s a new video for you too; I went to see the Great zelephant Migration in Houston. Note they head after April 30, 2025:
