Passrider Travel Tip of the Week
Use Weather Patterns to Plan Smarter
When bad weather hits — summer thunderstorms, hurricanes forming, or heavy rains — it’s not just your departure city that matters. One storm can throw off flights across the entire network, especially at big hubs.
How to stay ahead:
✅ Track weather at your departure, connection, and destination — storms in DFW or ATL can ripple to flights you’d never expect.
✅ Aim for morning flights — they’re less likely to get caught in delays that stack up during the day.
✅ Have multiple reroute options ready — know which hubs are clear and which ones are getting hit.
✅ If you get stuck, look at ground options — sometimes a train or bus to a nearby airport outside the weather system can get you moving faster than waiting for the next standby seat.
Non-rev secret: In bad weather, the flexible travelers win. Don’t just watch your gate — watch the radar, too.
