Hi Fellow Traveler,

Thanks for taking the time out of your busy day to read my words. It is appreciated!

Monday, September 1, 2025 is a holiday in the U.S.; it’s Labor Day. The flights were pretty full this week as is expected since schools are starting back and people are taking longer vacations as they have an extra day off. Plan ahead if you’re flying space available.

New York City

I spent a few days earlier this week in New York. A very close friend of mine and I went to the U.S. Open. It was so much fun. Have you ever been?

We got to see Alcaraz and Coco practice as well as some other top players.

So, its always hard to pick which side of the plane to sit if you’re on a revenue ticket when flying into LaGuardia. I chose the right side and the landing pattern was not going over Manhattan, instead it went over the Billy Jean Tennis Center and made left-hand turns and gave amazing views, which I didn’t see. It’s always a toss up; I still enjoyed my view of Far Rockaway and JFK though :-). I did get some great shots of the planes landing while at the Tennis as they were still using that left-hand pattern.

I’m a big fan of New York as there’s always so much to do.

Have you ever been to New York?

Current Travels

I’m traveling and it all started with the trip to New York, flying in on American, then flying porter airlines (first time), TAP, TAP Express (first time) and SAS (first time since they joined SkyTeam). I’ll be sharing some videos over the next few days/week so keep an eye out.

I still love traveling even though it’s a bit tiring. It’s great to see people out there doing it and the interesting things they get into :-) and their reactions.

Saw this guy using his over five year old son to board when they announced that if you have a child five and under you can board :-). Then I overhead the kid, saying, “but dad, I’m over five :-);” dad shrugged that off. People are sometimes odd…

Despite the rain and a cloudy day, I especially had a great time flying into Billy Bishop Airport (YTZ), The airport celebrates their 86th birthday on September 8; I had no idea. It’s a unique airport. They currently have this big 85th birthday yearlong celebration going on.

I’m fascinated by this airport as it uses a two-minute ferry as well as you can walk to access the airport. The airport sits on an island just off the lake coast of Toronto on Lake Ontario. If you’ve not been the next time you’re in Toronto, you’re in for a treat. I’ve been once before, but never flown in or out. If you’re in the CN Tower watching the planes coming in is also a treat. Equally, watching them from Toronto Island is just as good. Here’s a photo I took a few years ago from the CN Tower.

BTW, Lake Ontario is HUGE! Plus I got to see this on the way in; can you identify it?

Can you identify it?

Passrider Travel Tip of the Week

Be Nice to Give Yourself Time To Recharge

When we travel, we just go and go and go. But just like our phone and camera batteries drain, so does our own internal battery.

As you head out on trips, remember to recharge yourself too: get enough sleep, stay hydrated, and if you take medication, make sure you take it ontime and as prescribed. A charged body travels better than a drained one.
