[Kerwin at Passrider.com] I'm Ready For The Paris Airshow
Made it to Paris for the show and some information on Porto.
Hi Fellow Traveler,
I hope you’re having a great week. Sorry for being tardy this week.
Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to read my words. It is appreciated!
If you’re new to the newsletter, welcome. If you’re a regular reader, thank you so much for reading my words each week :-).
First, I couldn’t help but think about the Air India Boeing 787 crash as I flew here over the last 36 hours. As I watched all the workers prepare the airplanes for flight; it overwhelms you. Once thing is for certain, the investigators will find out the cause, then we can learn from it. And for the one guy who survived; wow! And for that lady who missed the flight by 10 minutes. Wow! Life has a way of telling you things.
Deepest sympathy to the families and the aviation community on this one.
Yup, I spent the last 36 hours traveling. I had not yet flown the A330-900neo, so it’s a side thing for this trip. I flew TAP’s from MIA and the plan is to fly Condor’s back later next week.
I had a good flight over. I mean TAP delivered, could it be better; yes, but it wasn’t bad. I had an odd seat mate, but you’ll have to read the review for that one. And MIA is always interesting to fly into. They just need a complete makeover.
For now, I’m super tired, so this will be a short one. The show pre-opens tomorrow in the a.m. so need to prep as in sleep for that :-).
I hope your week was a productive one whatever you did.
PORTO , PORTUGAL
I didn’t prepare a new report for you this week, but since I transited Lisbon, here is a report for Porto, Portugal

Passrider Travel Tip of the Week
Build in Extra Time for International Connections
When connecting through international gateways—especially on your way into or out of the U.S. or Europe—make sure you give yourself plenty of time to:
✅ Clear Immigration
✅ Pick up and re-check bags if necessary
✅ Clear Customs
✅ Pass through security again
✅ Transfer between terminals (especially at large airports like CDG, ORD, LAX, FRA, JFK, or LHR)
Even if your connection is technically “legal” per the airline’s system, as a non-rev traveler you should add buffer time—ideally 2.5 to 3+ hours—to avoid missing the next leg. Many international airports require long walks, terminal transfers via train or bus, and re-screening, which can eat up time fast—especially in summer crowds.
Also, check visa requirements, especially if you’re connecting to a domestic flight and then to an international one. Or just traniting. Some countries required a confirmed onward ticket.
Pro tip: If you’re connecting in a U.S. airport, remember that you’ll clear U.S. customs at the first point of entry into the U.S. So give yourself that breathing room!
