[Kerwin at Passrider.com] My Delta 100 Sphere Experience In las Vegas | Why Is Travel So Stressful?

I recount the Delta keynote at CES in the Sphere as talk about my winter travels.

Hi Fellow Traveler,

If you’re new to the newsletter, welcome. If you’re a regular reader, thank you so much for reading my words each week :-).

I’m back from CES in Las Vegas, and it was quite the event. Even if the event was two weeks long, you’d never be able to soak it all in. Eureka Park alone, where all the super smart entrepreneurs are, would take three days tops to check it all out.

The highlight for me was the Delta Keynote by their CEO Ed Bastian at the Sphere. It was immediately followed by a 30-minute concert by Lenny Kravitz.

It’s the venue for me, though, and clearly, Delta spent a lot of money on this event. From the cool swags (sweatshirt, hooded sweatshirt, key chain and Starbucks gift card, and Uber Eats card to a select few) to the food and the ad that ran all day on the outside of the Sphere, they did a phenomenal job.

DELTA SWAG

So thanks Delta for letting me enter the Sphere for no additional cost than what I spent for the CES week in Las Vegas :-).

Delta dropped Lyft as their shared ride partner and chose Uber. I would have liked to be in the meetings that led up to this. I guess we will never know why Lyft was dropped. I’m not a fan of Uber, so I don’t like this move.

Delta also mentioned they will launch a Concierge service driven by AI using the data they already know about us as their customers.

Delta was the very first airline I joined back in 1994. I wanted to stay with them forever, but they weren’t hiring in Corporate, so after 7 months of working on the ramp and ticket counter with a Masters degree in my pocket and trying to get into Corporate, I ditched them and went to ATA in Indianapolis, IN.

What I did like was that Delta honored a number of employees and one of the flight attendants who spoke is so good, she should be in charge of something. She was just on point.

Travel Is Stressful

This is a shorter newsletter as I’m super tired since I left Las Vegas on the red-eye flight to Miami in American. It should have left at 11p but left at 1:07a then I missed my connection to Houston and used my standby skills to revenue standby for the next flight and made it with a window seat that had no windows on the A321neo; it is always irritating…

No window on the A321neo

It was funny as a very young boy was sitting in front of me and kept closing and opening his window and staring at me around the corner. I gave him the thumbs up when the window was open. Eventually, his mom told him to leave it open :-).

I have a lot of videos on my YouTube Channel about CES, (go subscribe and watch now :-)) and take a look. I’ll be adding more too. I even checked out this rideable suitcase; a weird concept that’s been around for a while now…

Passrider Travel Tip of the Week

Refresh Your Non-Rev Travel Strategy for the New Year

As we step into a new year, it's a great time to revisit your non-rev travel approach. Start by checking for updates to your airline’s non-rev policies, including baggage allowances, dress codes, and priority rules. Make sure your airline apps are up to date for real-time standby lists and flight status alerts.

Additionally, consider creating a travel "wishlist" of destinations you’d like to explore this year. Use quieter winter months to plan non-rev trips to places with lower seasonal demand, giving yourself the best chance of securing those coveted seats!
