Passrider Travel Tip of the Week
Stay Nimble During European ATC Strikes
With threatened strikes by French air traffic controllers on July 3–4—coinciding with the onset of French summer holidays—you could face significant delays or cancellations through French airspace.
Here’s how to stay ahead:
Avoid routing through French hubs like Paris (CDG/ORY), Lyon (LYS), or Nice (NCE) around July 3–4.
Instead, consider connecting through non‑French gateways such as Amsterdam (AMS), Brussels (BRU), Frankfurt (FRA), or Zurich (ZRH)—less affected by the strikes.
Be ready for overnight IROP (irregular ops)—have carry‑on only, know alternate ground transport options (trains, trains+bus), and pack essentials since rebooking could stretch into the next day.
If you’re already near French airports, reposition ahead of July 3 to avoid getting stuck mid‑travel.
By anticipating ATC disruptions, you can strategically reroute and turn a potential wrecked travel day into a smooth non‑rev win.
Expect the unexpected…
