[Kerwin at Passrider.com] Sharing Your Travel Tips | U.K. ETA Changes

I share the travel tips you gave during the travel scavenger hunt. Already there are changes to the UK ETA

Hi Fellow Traveler,

If you’re new to the newsletter, welcome. If you’re a regular reader, thank you so much for reading my words each week :-).

The weather is turning sour over the next few days so I hope your travels will be O.K. Give yourself extra time.

If you’re in Houston and flying United and your gate is Terminal B, you have to check-in at Terminal C if you’re checking a bag. If not, then you can just check-in online and use Terminal A as there will be less congestion.

Travel Tips

A special treat today as I’ve compiled the tips you gave me during the scavenger hunt and created an article with it. Here you go; enjoy as much as I did and thank you! Click the image below.

Heading to Australia

Next week, I head to Australia; visiting Sydney and Melbourne and flying Qantas, JetStar as well as Fiji Airways (will be a new airline) with a 12 hour or so stop in Nadi, Fiji.

And remember if you’re heading to Australia, you will need to apply for an ETA similar to what you need for the U.K. You must download the App to do so and pay the $20 AUD fee. It’s a bit of a chore. I had one done, but since my ETA which the App generates expired, I had to apply for another one.

Follow on Instagram as well as YouTube. Let me know if you want me to explore anything special while on this trip.

An answer to every “What’s for dinner?” question: That’s Tovala.

UK ETA

Here’s an update. The U.K. has changed the rules slightly; now you don’t need to apply for an ETA if you’re transiting the U.K., only if it’s your destination. This is the wording:

“You no longer need an ETA to transit through the UK if you will not pass through border control ('airside' transit).”

But, the fee for the ETA will be increasing soon; so if you are thinking of heading to the U.K. apply soon.

I have a trip coming up next month, which is a transit trip, so I won’t need one; but I think I’ll just get one anyways.

Passrider Travel Tip of the Week

Take Advantage of “Mid-January Lows”

The weeks following the New Year are often some of the quietest travel periods of the year, making it an ideal time for non-rev travelers like you.

Flights that were packed during the holidays suddenly see lighter loads as leisure travel slows and many people return to their routines.

Use this time to target popular destinations that are normally hard to access during peak seasons, like tropical getaways or major international hubs. Plus, you’ll likely enjoy less crowded airports and faster boarding experiences. Don’t forget to double-check standby lists and plan backups for smooth travel!
