Hi {{Name|Fellow Traveler}},

As you know, I launched a GoFundMe campaign to help the people in my childhood district in the mountains of Jamaica. They were devastated by Hurricane Melissa last year.

So far, it’s raised $1,165, and GoFundMe sent me $1,029.01, and the account earned $0.08 in interest. So I took all the $1029.09 and gave it to the church and the school (they told me what was important, and I sent the money to buy that). Here’s what I bought:

  • Church: Two 30' x 40' Tarpaulin - $32,164.74 JMD ($210)

  • Primary School: 1 printer - $107,700 JMD ($683.40)

Tarpaulin for church

Sweeping water out of the church. Once tarps are installed, they won’t have to do that; then we have to repair the ceiling and the roof.

I didn’t have enough to help the individual community members as yet, but that’s the goal once more funds are received. I want to give some farmers grants and help one of the residents get a literal roof over their heads and get some water drums for the school, so the kids can have drinking water and also water to flush the outdoor toilets. If you haven’t yet donated, please don’t hesitate to donate at https://gofund.me/96b1fdab6. Thanks in advance.
