✈️ Passrider Non-Rev Travel Tip of the Week
Reroute Smartly for Major Events like Oktoberfest
Oktoberfest is one of Europe’s biggest draws, and that means flights into Munich (MUC) will be packed solid for the next couple of weeks. But don’t give up if MUC looks impossible — seasoned non-revs know to use alternate gateways and ground connections:
✅ Nearby German Airports — Try Frankfurt (FRA), Stuttgart (STR), or Nuremberg (NUE). From there, it’s just a short train ride to Munich.
✅ Neighboring Countries — Flying into Zurich (ZRH), Vienna (VIE), or even Prague (PRG) often gives you better availability, and Europe’s train network makes the connection to Munich seamless.
✅ Travel Light — With busy trains and buses, a carry-on will make transfers much easier.
✅ Plan Your Exit Too — Just like getting in, getting out after the festival will be hectic. Look at alternate departure cities now so you’re not scrambling later.
Pro move: If you’re flexible, target weekday flights and avoid the big Oktoberfest weekends, when both flights and hotels are at their fullest.
