[Kerwin at Passrider.com] Two A330-900neos - 2 Different Experiences

I had a chance to fly TAP and Condor's new planes, plus Paris and Seattle Experiences and the Museum of Flight trip. And a look at Legazpi, Philippines

Hi Fellow Traveler,

I hope you’re having a great week. Happy Solstice Day (June 20, 2025).

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to read my words. It is appreciated!

If you’re new to the newsletter, welcome. If you’re a regular reader, thank you so much for reading my words each week :-).

I’m back from the Paris Airshow trip and it was quite an adventure. I flew over on TAP’s A330-900neo and back on Condor’s A330-900neo. Two different experiences. Will have a video and a review coming.

Condor's A330-900neo

In Paris, I took one afternoon to explore Notre Dame and Versailles (video uploading). Here’s the Notre Dame video -

I also had a chance to check out the Museum of Flight in Seattle on my way back as I had an 8-hour layover. It’s been a while since I’d been there so it was a good one.

The city of Seattle has changed a lot since my last visit I couldn’t walk anywhere downtown without dodging the homeless. It’s sad that the cities dont’ take better care of the homeless. Sigh…

Seattle Public Library

I flew back on Alaska Airlines, new Boeing 737 MAX 8, so I had a chance to check out the Seatac Airport and boy, it’s a mess. They are making a lot of changes though. It was my first time using the Immigration facility there. it’s so far to get from the departure gates to the Customs and then Immigration areas. It’s an odd airport as you have to pickup your bags before Immigration. It’s typically Immigration and then Customs.

I took the train to the bus to get to the Museum of Flight and then took the train all the way back to the airport. It’s a lot of time to spend on public transit. So if you’re in a hurry just take a shred ride or a taxi. Here’s a video about how to get from the station back to the terminal. Give yourself extra time if you choose this routing.

The Seattle area was actually very cool given that is mid June. It was in the sixties! Meanwhile Paris was 82F. Europe is having a heatwave at the moment.

Check out my YouTube channel for many new videos about the Paris Airshow. I’ll be adding more over the weekend, once I get some more rest.

I hope your week was a productive one whatever you did.

LEGAZPI , PHILIPPINES

I visited this remote town in the Philippines back in 2018. I highly recommend the place. Go check it out and see why. https://www.passrider.com/legazpi-city-philippines/

Passrider Travel Tip of the Week

Keep an Eye on Geo-Political Flight Suspensions & Adjust Routes

A growing number of carriers—especially U.S. and European—are pausing flights to the Gulf region (Dubai, Doha, etc.) due to rising tensions in the Middle East. Although you're not non-revving to those destinations, this ripple effect can cause ripple disruptions across global flight networks.

Here’s how to protect your non-rev travel:

  1. Track airline route suspensions via news apps or airline advisories—they often impact scheduling elsewhere.

  2. Have alternate European or U.S. gateways on standby, even if they’re not your first choice (e.g., avoid flights routing through disrupted hubs).

  3. Monitor aircraft swaps and cancellations early—timeouts in one region can free up seats elsewhere.

  4. Remain near live departure boards and airline apps so you can pivot quickly to a less-impacted flight.

By staying alert to global news, you can turn network-wide disruptions into non-rev opportunities before everyone else jumps on board.
