Hi {{Name|Fellow Traveler}},
Thank you for being an avid reader. I appreciate it.
Do me a favor, please, and hit reply and tell me if there is anything else you’d like to see in these weekly newsletters, and I’ll try to make it happen. Or if there is something else you don’t like, hit reply and let me know. I really appreciate any help you can provide.
I’m sitting in an airport waiting for my next flight, which departs in just under 6 hours. This lady just passed and said she saw a mouse lurking around my feet. I thought she was kidding, but I started looking where she was pointing, and I saw the tiny thing; it’s about six inches long and scurrying along. People would have freaked out if the terminal were full!
But I digress :-).
So far, my jetBlue flights are going well. I’m starting to hate their snacks though lol. Although I really love plantain chips, C and just had too much lol. Now I’m using ChatGPT to help me figure out the most efficient routing.

Did you know many U.S. airports are named after presidents, civil-rights icons, aviation pioneers… and even musicians?
Most travelers walk right past those names without knowing the stories behind them — or how some airports quietly changed who they were named after.
This week, I went deep into the surprising history behind America’s person-named airports. Expect some wild trivia, a few “wait, seriously?” moments, and a personal story from my Air Mike island-hopper days that still makes me laugh.
If you love aviation, airport history, or want a fun conversation starter for your next trip, you’ll enjoy this one.
Please let me know if I’ve missed any, and feel free to share with your friends and colleagues.

New York City At Christmas
I spent last evening/night (Thursday) walking around Midtown (34th Street to 50th Street) in Manhattan. I was enjoying a favorite Christmas activity: watching the Christmas lights and people.

Bryant Park Skating Rink

Macy's
People love New York City, especially at Christmas. The stores like Saks (5th Avenue) and Macy’s go all out. The windows were so well done, and of course, the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree was lit on December 3, 2025.
You can see some videos on the YouTube channel. Keep checking back as I’ll be adding some more.

Hurricane Melissa Relief Continues
Please continue to think of the people in Jamaica as they try to get back on their feet. This includes my own family members, who also had damage to their homes. They all survived, thankfully, but as you can imagine, it’s pretty hard on them and their neighbors.
I’m amazed at the number of organization that does the work of getting people back on their feet. Hats off to them.
This young man in Jamaica, Colaz Smith, has a YouTube channel and he’s taking donations, and then buying supplies for the affected people. These are the people in areas hard hit, but difficult to get to. Head over to https://colazsmithtvtours.com/helpjamaica to donate. You can see his YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@Colazsmithtv.

These organizations need your financial support. TIME magazine has a great article with some helpful links; please check it out: https://time.com/7329186/hurricane-melissa-caribbean-impact-victims-how-to-help-relief-organizations/.
Jamaica is coordinating its efforts at https://supportjamaica.gov.jm/donate.
This is a good starting point. Monetary donations are preferable, allowing recipients to use the funds as needed.
UNICEF and the International Red Cross also have resources set up.

✈️ Passrider Non-Rev Travel Tip of the Week
Non-Rev Tip of the Week: Travel in the Shadow of the Rush
The week after Thanksgiving is one of the best-kept secrets in non-rev travel. Most people have just returned home, business travel hasn’t yet ramped back up, and the December holidays are still a few weeks away — meaning seats open up across the network.
Here’s how to make the most of it:
✅ Take advantage of the post-holiday dip. Routes that were impossible last week suddenly have space. Now’s the time to take that trip you’ve been putting off.
✅ Watch for aircraft repositioning. Airlines shift planes and crews to prepare for December schedules — these flights often have extra seats.
✅ Keep flexibility. Weather is still a wildcard this time of year, so keep alternate routings handy in case of winter delays.
✅ Scope out the system. Use this quiet window to test new connections, airports, or airlines so you’re ready when peak season returns.
Pro move: The best non-rev travelers don’t move with the crowds — they move between them. Right now is your window to do just that.
