MILES/POINTS TIP OF THE WEEK

Optimize Your Hotel Stays with Promotional Booking Bonuses

Many hotel loyalty programs run limited-time promotions where you can earn bonus points on your stays—especially if you book multiple nights or travel during off-peak periods or visit new hotels as with the Hyatt promotion above. This is a great way to accelerate your points balance while enjoying your trip.

How to Take Advantage:

  1. Keep an Eye on Promotions:

    • Regularly check your favorite hotel loyalty program's website or app for current bonus offers.

    • Sign up for newsletters like this one :-), or alerts so you don't miss time-sensitive deals.

  2. Plan Extended Stays:

    • Many promotions reward guests with extra points when they book three or more consecutive nights.

    • Even if you're unsure about a long stay, consider booking a room with a free cancellation option to lock in the bonus points. These are usually more, but check out the cost per point and make an informed decision.

  3. Stack with Credit Card Offers:

    • If you can, use a hotel-affiliated or travel rewards credit card to pay for your booking. This way, you'll earn both the promotional bonus points and additional rewards from your card.

  4. Compare Rates and Bonuses:

    • Sometimes, promotional bonus points are available even when booking discounted rates. Run the numbers to see if the extra points justify the expense compared to your usual cash rate.
