MILES/POINTS TIP OF THE WEEK
Leverage Airline–Hotel Loyalty Partnerships
Did you know that many airlines and hotel chains have reciprocal partnerships that let you earn or redeem points across both programs? Tapping into these alliances can help you rack up rewards more quickly and enjoy perks you might not otherwise have access to.
How It Works:
Identify Existing Partnerships
Marriott Bonvoy & United MileagePlus
World of Hyatt & American Airlines
Hilton Honors & Lyft (earn Hilton points on Lyft rides), etc.
Link Your Accounts
Log in to your loyalty accounts and follow the instructions to connect them.
Once linked, eligible stays or flights might earn you miles and points simultaneously.
Enjoy Extra Benefits
Some partnerships grant elevated status in one program based on your tier in the other—think bonus points, complimentary upgrades, or priority boarding.
Maximize Your Travel Spend
Book directly with the hotel or airline you’re targeting to ensure you’re credited for both sets of rewards.
Use a travel credit card that offers additional points for hotel or airline purchases to triple-dip on a single transaction (hotel points, airline miles, and credit card rewards).
Pro Tip: Keep your loyalty accounts linked year-round. Even everyday expenditures like ride-sharing or dining at hotel restaurants can occasionally earn you bonus airline miles. Small habits add up quickly over time!
PS: You can get lots more information about frequent traveler programs for airlines, hotels, and car rental companies in my frequent traveler course at https://cruisinaltitude.newzenler.com/courses/frequent-traveler-101.
HOTELS
If you book directly with the hotels, head over to https://www.passrider.com/hotels for links, and if you prefer to use an online travel agency, head over to https://www.passrider.com/expedia, my hotel booking partner.
STANDING STATUS MATCHES
Here are some more status match offers from other airlines. Remember that you cannot status match within the same Alliance. So if you have say American Airlines AAdvantage status, you can’t status match to British Airways:
Airlines
Cruise Lines
