Offers from Chase, Virgin Voyages, and Marriott plus more...

In partnership with

Hi Fellow Traveler,

It’s time for the weekly offers…

Let’s see what I found this week.

I got a new offer to share from Chase and Marriott; one of the ways to earn hotel status and points is to get their credit card. It gives you both extra points when you use it to pay for your stay or use the restaurants as well as instant elite status. Some like IHG will give you Platinum, though it used to be Diamond, but they changed that this year.

Choose any Marriott Bonvoy Credit Card that is right for you. I can be rewarded too if you apply here and are approved for this card. https://www.referyourchasecard.com/252j/0FY8DIDRGI

Here are some more offers:

Plus, in the Miles and Points Tips section, I talk about how to make car rental partnerships to earn points/miles.

MILES/POINTS TIP OF THE WEEK

Maximize Rewards (and Convenience) with Car Rental Loyalty Programs

Many major car rental agencies—such as Hertz, Avis, Budget, National, and Enterprise—offer free membership programs that can significantly enhance your rental experience. Beyond earning points (or even airline miles), these programs often provide perks like expedited service, the ability to choose your vehicle from a dedicated aisle, and shorter wait times at pickup counters.

How to Do It:

  1. Sign Up (It’s Free!):

    • Visit the rental company’s website, look for the “loyalty” or “rewards” section, and follow the steps to enroll. There’s typically no cost to join.

  2. Link Your Airline or Hotel Program (If Available):

    • Some car rental programs let you earn frequent flyer miles or hotel points instead of (or in addition to) their own points.

    • Example: Avis partners with American Airlines, offering miles per rental. But sometimes you have to rent at an airport for it to count.

  3. Leverage Perks and Upgrades:

    • Skip the Counter: Many loyalty programs allow members to bypass the standard check-in process. This is ace and worth its weight in gold.

    • Free Upgrades: Some status tiers offer complimentary car class upgrades when available.

  4. Pay with a Travel Rewards Credit Card:

    • Earn extra points or miles for travel purchases while still collecting car rental loyalty rewards.

    • Make sure your card includes primary car rental insurance coverage to save on insurance fees. Be sure to pay for the insurance if you’re renting in a foreign country though. But check the card being used just to see if it does cover you.

Pro Tip: If you frequently rent cars for personal or business travel, consider investing time in a status match. Some rental agencies will upgrade your membership level if you already have elite status with another program.
