Despite all the “bad” things being said about using AI, there are many good things and I prefer to accentuate the positives.

It was quite a fun trip as I saw an area of Spain I’d not previously visited.

San Sebastian is nestled in the Pyrenees mountains, so it gets rain a lot and cooler temperatures and it has a few really nice beaches with brown sand.

Bilbao is located just outside of the Pyrenees but is also in a mountainous area and has a river running through the city.

My flight experiences were far from stellar on both Iberia and American; I’ve made a video and will share it later as well. In short, I had a seat change on my AA flight and the flight attendant service was less than stellar. Plus, for a oneworld alliance flight, it felt like I was flying on airlines that didn’t have an alliance.

As I was in San Sebastian last Saturday, I decided to try to get to Paris as I wanted to see the French Tennis Open. On paper, well computer, it said I could take a train from San Sebastian to Hendaye in France (a border town) and then take the TGV and 4.75 hours later, I’d be in Paris. Watch the Tennis, then take an overnight bus and be back in San Sebastian by 8a the next day.

Some of that worked :-).

I’ll finish up this story in a post and send you all an email tomorrow with the rest of it. I started to write it and realized that it’s long and I can’t finish it in time to get the newsletter out. My apologies; I promise it will be a very good story :-).

A friend of mine was on holiday and got sick; unfortunately, she did not have any form of travel insurance. So she had to pay out of pocket and have a doctor and nurse come to her house to get treatment. Four days later she was feeling better and ready to fly home to get further treatment.

I say thsi to say that travel insurance is just as important as booking your flights and your hotel; it’s a part of the journey. it gives you peace of mind when you travel. At least, it does for me. That’s why I have an annual policy. Consider getting travel insurance for every trip or an annual policy. you don’t need it until you need it.
