Hi Fellow Traveler,

The last 24 hours have been crazy as Houston had massive thunderstorms and it looks like two tornadoes may have touched down.

Power has been out and so is the Internet, so it’s been difficult finding out what’s going on. And even though there is cell service, it’s spotty.

It would seem that after a disaster happens the communication is not good. I had people sending me messages asking how I was as they saw it on TV. Of course, I did not see it on TV, as the power was out and there’s no communication via the emergency channels.

Actually, I’m doing this newsletter via my tethered phone service. And I’m sure my provider will tell me I exceeded my quota, although I have no quota sigh…

Maybe they need to use the emergency channels to communicate before, during and after the emergency since all other communication methods are hit?

A friend of mine was on holiday and got sick; unfortunately, she did not have any form of travel insurance. So she had to pay out of pocket and have a doctor and nurse come to her house to get treatment. Four days later she was feeling better and ready to fly home to get further treatment.

I say thsi to say that travel insurance is just as important as booking your flights and your hotel; it’s a part of the journey. it gives you peace of mind when you travel. At least, it does for me. That’s why I have an annual policy. Consider getting travel insurance for every trip or an annual policy. you don’t need it until you need it.
