Hi Fellow Traveler,

Spring is here, or Autumn if you’re in the Southern Hemisphere. Despite that, there’s snow still on the ground in the Northern Hemisphere :-). It is getting warmer temperatures here in Houston, though, despite the massive showers and thunderstorms.

Thunderstorms in Houston mean flight issues, so be prepared for that whether you’re flying on a paid ticket or a space available one.

I was on a non-rev forum and someone gave up on a flight as the flight was full and they were way down the list. I reminded them of two of the many non-rev lessons:

  1. Lesson 1: Always show up regardless of how full the flight is as you never know. Sometimes, there are massive passenger misconnections. So don’t give up before you try.

  2. Lesson 2: Do not leave the gate until the airplane pushes back unless you must as you have another flight that’s leaving in a few minutes and you have to get to that gate. I can’t tell how many times, I’ve been at the gate, someone doesn’t show up or want to get off the plane and I get that last seat.
