[Kerwin at Passrider.com] A Trip To Cancun/Cozumel

A Trip To Cancun/Cozumel

Hi Fellow Traveler,

I’m on the road today, so sorry about the delayed newsletter.

I returned from my Cancun/Cozumel trip and I’m visiting a dear friend to celebrate a special occasion. I always encourage you to do that whenever possible. You can’t buy friendship…; cherish it.

So how was your week?

It’s been a while since I visited Mexico and not much has changed. I flew in on United and out on Delta. Both services were quite good. It’s been ages since I’ve flown Delta and the service was also good. I even enjoyed the snacks.

On the trip, I stayed at two very different hotels. At the first one, I didn’t allow them to clean my room on the second day there, so I asked for a bottle of water when I returned late the first night.

The front desk clerk, said no, as it’s only given at check-in. I was pretty sure I’d read that they give you two bottles each night, so I went up to the room to find the paper with the details.

Armed with it, I headed back downstairs; this time, he just ignored me, so I left eventually. I would have dealt with it myself, but I let the Tourism Board know as they were responsible for the stay.

If this ever happens on any of your trips, don’t be afraid to let the hotel live up to what you paid for. The rooms are expensive these days, so you should get your money’s worth.

What would you have done?

The Quintana Roo area was quite busy as all the folks who live in the colder areas headed south for the winter; even the birds :-).

All in all, it was a great trip; the highlight of which was heading to Cozumel (CZM). I had a chance to almost drive around the entire island, which is quite easy as it’s small.

One of the Ferries to Cozumel from Playa del Carmen.

They had unusually strong winds, so the ferry ride from Playa del Carmen was quite rough and left people vomiting. The crew was very good though as they brought around plastic bags, paper towels, and something that apparently if you rub it at the back of your neck, it helps to stop the queasiness.

I don’t get seasick, so I was fine, thankfully.

I especially loved this photo that we saw all along the Cozumel mangrove swamp area.

I’ll have a full report soon about how to get there, get around, and enjoy the area.

Have you been to the Cancun/Cozumel area? What do you think?

How are things in your neck of the woods?

Here’s what I have for you this week.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is just as important as booking your flights and your hotel; it’s a part of the journey. it gives you peace of mind when you travel. At least, it does for me. That’s why I have an annual policy. Consider getting travel insurance for every trip or an annual policy. you don’t need it until you need it.

Note: If you purchase travel insurance via this link, I receive a small commission. Thank you in advance.

Travel Credit Cards

If you use credit cards, then consider getting a card that gives you points for every dollar you spend. This will ensure that you can travel almost for free when you are ready.

Here are a few travel offers that came to my mailbox.

Chase IHG MasterCard Offer
One way to get hotel points is to get one of these massive credit card offers. Chase has a current offer for 4 FREE nights; this is pretty epic as it's usually about 40K+/night if you stay in popular cities. This is a great deal and you should at least check it out. I also get some miles if you get a card, so we both could win.
