Hi {{Name|Fellow Traveler}},

I hope you had a good week. Thank you for reading my work each week.

Was it cold enough for you this week? I hope it didn’t affect your travels too much. I was supposed to travel to NY, but decided against it because the roads were frozen. So it was pointless.

I’m currently at 6,898 subscribers on my YouTube channel. If you’re not yet a subscriber, head over to the channel, subscriber and watch one of my videos I loaded this week; thank you in advance:

It dawned on me this week that it's been 45+ years since I’ve flown my first commercial flight. So I decided to create a reflection video. Take a look and let me know your reflections in the comments on the video.

How long have you been flying?

Emergency Landing Back in April 2009

It was April 2009; the flight attendant appeared at the front of the cabin and read a script. I’d never seen anything like it. Read about what happened next….

Hurricane Melissa Relief Continues

I’m working on a project for the people whose lives have been upturned in rural Jamaica. I should have some news soon. I hope you will help support the project.

Please continue to think of the people in Jamaica as they try to get back on their feet. This includes my own family members, who also had damage to their homes. They all survived, thankfully, but as you can imagine, it’s pretty hard on them and their neighbors.

I’m amazed at the number of organization that does the work of getting people back on their feet. Hats off to them.

This young man in Jamaica, Colaz Smith, has a YouTube channel, and he’s taking donations and then buying supplies for the affected people. These are the people in areas hard hit, but difficult to get to. Head over to https://colazsmithtvtours.com/helpjamaica to donate. You can see his YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@Colazsmithtv.

This is the Negril Airport Terminal

These organizations need your financial support. TIME magazine has a great article with some helpful links; please check it out: https://time.com/7329186/hurricane-melissa-caribbean-impact-victims-how-to-help-relief-organizations/.

Jamaica is coordinating its efforts at https://supportjamaica.gov.jm/donate.

This is a good starting point. Monetary donations are preferable, allowing recipients to use the funds as needed.

UNICEF and the International Red Cross also have resources set up.

Another organization is Samaritans Purse. You can donate at https://samaritanspurse.org/ y clicking on the Give button.

✈️ Passrider Non-Rev Travel Tip of the Week

Winter Is a Patience Game

This time of year, winter weather can change plans quickly. Flights may look good one moment and fall apart the next.

If you’re traveling:

  • Give yourself extra time and wider buffers

  • Expect delays and stay flexible

  • Have a backup plan — and be okay using it

  • If you don’t have to travel, it’s okay to wait

Winter reminder:
Arriving safely and calmly matters more than arriving fast.
