Hi {{Name|Fellow Traveler}},
I hope you had a good week. Thank you for reading my work each week.
Sorry for the delay this week. Yesterday was a travel day with super expensive Internet on the plane :-).I flew BA from Houston to London on their 787. It was actually a really good flight. Even after all these years of their alliance with AA, things are not seamless.
I tried to check in on the AA App. I bought the ticket through AA’s website, and it’s displayed in their App, but it says I can’t.

They know who operates my first flight :-). So I went to BA and it was able to check me in, but wouldn’t show me the connecting boarding pass which was operated by Aer Lingus (EI). It told me to do so at the airport. But I could see the BA part of the boarding pass on the BA App.
So I went to the Aer Lingus App that said I was checked in and could collect my boarding pass, but when I entered my details, it wouldn’t generate one. I tried several times.
In person to the rescue, as the agent in Houston was able to print both boarding passes, and so was the Aer Lingus agent in Heathrow. The airlines push us online, but so many times I get pushed to see a real person, which I prefer :-).

In Houston, I was able to use the BA Lounge operated by another Lounge company (Lounge is shared with EVA, Qatar, and Emirates) as I’m an American Airlines Platinum (oneworld Sapphire). But in Heathrow, I was departing from Terminal 2, which does not have a BA Lounge, but it does have an Aer Lingus Lounge, but I couldn’t use that lounge as they don’t accept oneworld credentials, just BA’s credentials. So confusing :-). Aer Lingus is one of those odd airlines, as they have a lot of these partnerships with competing alliance members.

Aer Lingus’ Lounge in Heathrow Terminal 2
Wasn’t the end of the world, but just shows how not seamless the whole traveler experience isn’t.
The flight across the Atlantic was the most turbulence I’ve ever felt. It lasted over an hour. I chatted with the Captain after and he mentioned that all levels were bad, so we just had to ride it out.
It was also the second time I got a parking stand at Heathrow having arrived on BA. It was cool, but apparently the airport didn’t have enough buses, so we waited about 20 minutes on the stairs for the next bus. Us and the crew.

My 787 at the hardstand in Heathrow
Not to worry, though. I had a long conversation with a lady who flew a BOAC Comet from KUL to Heathrow, with a stop in Karachi, in 1963. So there was a silver lining :-). I totally enjoyed that experience.
Oh, just a reminder to always give yourself extra time at Heathrow when switching Terminals. I gave myself 3 hours and it took 1.5 hours from the time we parked remotely to the time I arrived in Terminal 2. I always give myself a lot of time when connecting in Heathrow if I have the luxury.

I have some posts in the works, but they are not quite done as I had my head down this week finishing up the European Non-Rev playbook; so watch out for that.
And I’m here in Ireland to speak with brands so you can get some more travel information. Please remember to let me know where you want to travel to in the poll.
Tomorrow, despite the cold and wet weather, I’m heading on a tour around parts of the country, so watch my Instagram and subscribe to my YouTube channel for more information.
I also saw the Emirates 25th Anniversary A380 as I was leaving Houston, Have you seen it?
Today is a short one so next week I’ll have a full newsletter.
Enjoy the weekend; it’s Super Bowl weekend, so if you’re traveling to see it, good luck with your flights.
