Hi {{Name|Fellow Traveler}},
I hope you had a good week. Thank you for reading my work each week. I have some new readers, so welcome.
It’s a Holiday weekend in the U.S., as Monday, February 16, is Presidents’ Day. In addition, tomorrow, Saturday, February 14, 2026 is St. Valentine’s Day. Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone who celebrates it.
You may have some difficulty flying this weekend, so ensure you’re prepared.
It just dawned on me today that the second weekend in March is the day we set our clocks forward in the U.S.; Europe is 21 days later. Good grief. Make it go away, please. What say you?
Anyone watching the Olympics? I’ve not had a chance at all. The last one I went to was in Vancouver, BC, Canada. So its been a long while for me.
Travel Talk
There is a new Travel Talk video podcast episode out where I talk about codeshares and my experience over the weekend traveling to/from Dublin, Ireland. Do I look like I just crossed the Atlantic in a narrow-body airplane?

✈️ Passrider Non-Rev Travel Tip of the Week
Check In Early When Flying Other Carriers
When using interline agreements to fly on another airline, if possible, check in as soon as the 24-hour window opens. Unlike your home carrier, other airlines don't recognize your individual airline seniority—they typically board nonrevs by check-in time instead.
Important exception: If you're flying on a partner within the same alliance (Star Alliance, OneWorld, or SkyTeam), your airline may have higher boarding priority than employees from non-alliance carriers. However, check-in time still matters when competing against other alliance employees.
Action step: Some airlines will email you when check-in opens, but don't rely on it—set a 24-hour reminder before your interline flight just in case. Check in the moment the window opens, not when you get to the airport. Those early minutes can make all the difference.
